Since 1999 when State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) and Project Management Institute (PMI) from the United States introduced PMP (Project Management Professional) certification to China, over 60,000 Chinese have taken their training courses and about 33,000 people have successfully obtained the certification and become professionals in project management. Over the ten years, PMP has injected fresh vigor and vitality into China's management level.
With the booming Chinese economy, more project management professionals are needed in many areas. Huge projects like Beijing Olympic Games, the Three Gorges Dam, manned spacecraft Shenzhou-7 and Shanghai Expo have all practiced project management. For enterprises which want to play better in the international market, the value of PMP is becoming clearer.
